HTC Vive is probably the most innovative virtual reality headsets ever released. If you have already tried Gear VR, Google’s Cardboard or Oculus Rift, then HTC Vive will look like a product from an entire different league. This modern gadget can deliver the most immersive virtual reality few people have ever experienced.
Featuring precision tracking, room-scale VR and over 200 games and apps, Vive offers you a complete virtual reality experience right from the comfort of your home.

Computer Requirements

If you do have the budged and your computer or laptop is powerful enough, then nothing in the whole world could prevent you from making the most out of HTC Vive. Soon enough, you might find yourself preferring the virtual reality over the actual one.
Without further ado, here are the requirements for your laptop or computer if you want to enjoy this modern VR system.

– Minimum requirements (absolutely essential if you want to run VIVE): 4 GB RAM, Intel Core i5 processor or AMD FX 8320, one HDMI port and a display port, an USB port, Windows 7 and 2GB NVIDIA GTX 950 or AMD Radeon R8 graphics car.
– Recommended configuration: if you want to fully leverage the power of HTC Vive, you need to have at least 8 GB RAM, a similar processor, and most importantly a NVIDIA GTX 1060 or another +2GB graphics card that supports asynchronous reprojection.

If you want to upgrade your computer or buy a new laptop to enjoy HPC Vive, we recommend you to go with Acer Predator Helios 300  and iBuyPower Ultra Gaming Computer.  Both of them, although expensive at some degree, are excellent choices for HTC Vive and could provide you with thousands of hours of thrilling virtual reality experience.

Using HTC Vive

HTC Vive is considered a more complete product than its main competitor, the Oculus Rift. However, the impressive amount of space you need in order to use this gadget could make your life miserable. This device is immense, and it requires a massive space investment. Of course, depending on the game played, you might need to move some furniture from your room to make space for the virtual action.

As it comes to using the product, the game controllers are very easy to use, with plenty of buttons and commands that make it really easy to play. The grip is solid, and the triggers are strategically placed to put a low amount of strain on your hands. This means that you could play for hours without feeling fatigue in your hands.

Extras for HTC Vive

You can tune your HTC Vive according to your preferences and personalize it to meet your wildest dreams. You can for example buy replacement cushions, better 3-in-1 cables, hyperkin covers, USB extension cable, nose rest, and the list goes on.

Some other extras for HTC Vive we like is the Vive Tracker, Vive Deluxe Audio Strap, the prescription HPC Vive lenses, the Abonnyc tripod ballhead mount and the heavy-duty impact stand.

Making the most out of HTC Vive

HTC Vive offers you an unparalleled experience right in the comfort of your home. Thanks to the room-scale VR, you can explore the virtual reality around you by moving in your room. Obviously, your room needs to be decluttered and be prepared for the immersive experience. You don’t want to trip on things and accidentally hit your feet or hands, if not worse.

To make the most out of your experience with HTC Vive, you should be standing on your feet. While you can also sit down on a chair while playing, the best experience you can have is while standing.

Setting up the device includes installing and downloading all the software required. You get all the installing tips in the software installer, so no worries here. The step-by-step guide is perfect for any “noob” out there. However, still expect to spend at least one hour and swear a few times until the whole process is complete.

Once you begin exploring the HTC Vive world, you might begin to notice a couple of problems. First, the Steam VR is quite temperamental and has regular crashes. Second, the Vive requires your computer to reboot quite often, which becomes frustrating if you’re playing too much.

As annoying as these issues might be, you can forgive HTC Vive, as it is only in Beta.
This device is not just immersive, but also quite social due to the regular pop-up window, which enables you to stream your experience with your Steam friends.

HTV Vive Performance

While Vive is considered harder to install and to use than Oculus Rift, it outperforms any other virtual reality headset available on the market. Users have never complained about experiencing nausea while playing Vive, which is not what they can say about Oculus. Not just that the technology is better for Vive, but the games are smarter, with less rotation and lower amount of jaggedness.

While other systems lag behind or have noticeable delays, HTC Vive tracks your exact location and determines your reactions in real time. Best of all, the system warns when you are about to hit an object or when you reach the boundaries of the pre-set play area. You are safe to choose your favorite game and play it from the comfort of your room.

Moreover, while other VR sets can only spot you in a maximum area of 5 x 11 feet, HTC Vive has a wider tracking area of 15 x 15. The great news is that you don’t even need to walk this much in the room, as the objects are closer and look bigger than in Oculus Rift games or in any other VR games.

If you buy some extras to the HTC Vive and you also have a high-end computer, your experience will become truly immersive. Just remember to choose a computer or laptop with an exquisite VR-ready graphic card to fully leverage the capabilities and performance of Vive.

With impressive features and boosting a high-end technology, HTC Vive can help you enjoy your time spent at home and immerse into the amazing new virtual reality. Despite having a few drawbacks, mainly because it is still in beta, HTC Vive offers a reliable gaming performance and probably one of the best virtual reality experience you can enjoy in 2017.
