What is Petzi Treat Cam Wi-Fi Pet Camera and Treat Dispenser
What if you could see what your pets are up to while you are away from home? This is exactly what the Petzi Treat Cam Wi-Fi Pet Camera and Treat Dispenser allows you to do. With streaming video and a built-in pet dispenser, your pets do not need to feel like they are alone all day.
I love this concept and could not wait to learn more about it. Once I found out about the Petzi Treat Cam, I began researching the device. Here is what I found out.
Overview of the Petzi Treat Cam Wi-Fi Pet Camera
The Petzi Treat Cam Wi-Fi Pet Camera is exactly what it sounds like. It is essentially a box with an HD video camera and a built-in treat dispenser. It sends HD streaming video signal to the Petzi app, so that you can see your pet while you are away from home. You talk to your pet through the speaker, dispense treats, and snap photos.
Pros of the Petzi Treat Cam
The Petzi Treat Cam has positive reviews from almost every customer that has tried it. The following advantages are commonly mentioned:
- HD camera delivers sharp, clear video
- Snap photos while watching the video
- Launch treats and also interact with your pet
- Built-in speaker for talking to your pet
The HD camera streams 720-pixel video. It offers a clear view of what your pets are up to. Once you install the app and connect the device to your network, you can instantly view the feed. Along with the live streaming video, you can also take photos of your pet and then share them on social media.
The HD camera is the main feature of this device, along with the treat launcher. Whenever you are ready, you can press a button and send a treat launching across the room. Watch your dog try to catch the treat or go running after it. This definitely sounds like a good time for both the pet and the pet owner.
With the built-in speaker, you can talk to your pet, to let them know that you are watching them at all times or to confuse them and send them into a panic.
Cons of the Petzi Treat Cam
Are there any disadvantages to using the Petzi Treat Cam? As wonderful as this product sounds, there have been a few issues that users have pointed out:
- The audio is one-way only
- The treat dispenser could be noisy
- Small treat dispenser opening
- There is sometimes a slight delay
Apparently, the audio only works one way. You can talk to your dog, but you cannot hear them. Again, not a major issue, but it would be nice if you could hear if your dog is whining, crying, or barking.
Some people have complained about the noise of the device. Though, you may be able to adjust this. Honestly, I do not know how big of a problem this could be, but I cannot imagine that the dispenser would be noisy enough to create a disturbance.
Another issue is the size of the dispenser – which forces you to use smaller treats. If you have a large dog, this could be a problem. With small to medium dogs, smaller treats are fine. But with a larger dog, they may not be satisfied with a single treat.
According to some users, there is occasionally a slight delay in the video feed. This could make it difficult to interact with your pet. If you have to constantly wait for a second or two for their response, it could become confusing. Hopefully, this is only a slight delay and not a constant issue.
Also, if you have a puppy that has not yet been taught not to chew on things, there is always the chance that they could decide to destroy the machine to get to the treats. Though, this is a risk you take with your furniture, shoes, and other items anyway and not really an issue directly related to the product.
Final Thoughts and Summary
The Petzi Treat Cam seems like a cool device. After checking out tons of reviews online, it appears the Petzi Treat Cam delivers on its promises of allowing you to interact with your pet. You get to view live streaming HD video, talk to your pet, take photos, and dispense treats.
As mentioned, it is similar to the Petcube. Both devices allow you to monitor your pets while you are away from home. The major difference is that the Petzi Treat Cam comes with a built-in treat dispenser and the Petcube comes with a laser pointer.
Basically, in my humble opinion – the Petzi was created with dogs in mind while the Petcube was created with cats in mind. Who knows, maybe it would be a good idea to get both devices and interact with any animal in the house.
I plan on giving it a try and seeing what else I discover about the Petzi Treat Cam. Apparently, the developers are constantly working to update the device, so perhaps some of the issues mentioned above will also get addressed. In the meantime, this seems like a fun novelty toy and a great way to check in on my dogs.
